Ahhh :-)........me back in my happy days as a mural artist (ok....way back ;-) taken around 2001 I think
My name is Karen Hetzer, I began painting in 1996 inspired by a small hand painted furniture shop I stumbled upon while living in Lake Worth, FL. Twenty three years later and now living in Philadelphia, PA my own project portfolio would grow to include not only painted furniture but also Murals, Paintings known as ACEO paintings (Art Cards Editions and Originals-always 2.5"x3.5") as well as larger paintings, and now Macrame Jewelry. I've had the heady privilege of painting murals in multi-million dollar homes, and to the other extreme an eyebrow raising 'come on Karen, you can do this' experience of accepting a commission to paint a portrait in a urinal, yes a real 'in use' urinal.
No haughty accreditation I'm afraid if that is what you need to see, I am a self taught artist relying on what I could glean/learn from famous painters whose work could be found and studied online, in books, and in museums, they were/are my teachers.
My paintings are done in acrylics and my style is mainly traditional and focuses on common everyday subjects.
I also sell prints and note cards here of my small ACEO paintings. ACEO stands for Art Cards Editions and Originals, art cards are always 2.5" by 3.5". Still primarily a painter I'm also beginning to add craft projects (knits and macrame) to this site as my skills in those areas develop.
Please look through the pages here to see a few examples of my work. Contact me for more information and/or to commission work.
I also have a blog you can follow, its all about my ups and downs while trying to make it as an artist.
