I began painting in 1996 inspired by a small hand painted furniture shop I stumbled upon while living in Lake Worth, FL. Twenty one years later my project portfolio would grow to include painted furniture, murals, and small paintings for clients in the U.S. as well as abroad. I've had the heady privilege of painting murals in multi-million dollars homes and to the extreme........
an eyebrow raising 'come on Karen, you can do this' experience of accepting a commission to paint a portrait in a urinal, yes a real urinal.
No haughty accreditation I'm afraid if that is what you need to see, I am a self taught artist. I was never able to afford art school or to have the privilege of studying under the tutelage of established practicing artists, so instead relied on what I could glean from famous painters whose work could be found and studied online, in books, and in museums, they were/are my teachers.
My work now focuses on murals (on canvas), and small paintings also known as ACEO paintings, tiny little 2.5" x 3.5" collectible works of art. ACEO stands for Art Cards Editions and Originals.
I work in acrylics and my style is mainly traditional and focuses on common everyday subjects.
Please look through the pages here to see a few examples of my work. Check to see what may be available for sale now or look through past/sold works on the Gallery page, these small paintings are now available as affordable 2.5"x 3.5" prints disguised as note cards . Always feel free to contact me for more information and/or to commission work.
